Present: The Real World

"Hey!" a man's voice shouted from amid a large group of people.  All around him were men and women and a handful of children.  "Hear that?" he asked the crowd.

Dead silence.

Mr. IshidaBut another man knew exactly what he was getting at.  "The monsters have stopped fighting," Mr. Ishida nodded his head in understanding.

"Oh, thank goodness!" some of the women sighed in relief, hugging each other for support.

"Yeah," Mr. Kamiya stood beside Matt's father.  "But how are we going to find the kids now?"

That's the question that weighed on everyone's mind.  Standing behind Mr. Kamiya and Mr. Ishida were the mothers and fathers of all the Digi-Destined.  Even Cody's grandfather, Davis' sister, Joe's brother, and all of Yolei's siblings tagged along for the journey.  They were on a mission...

All of a sudden, as if in answer to Mr. Kamiya's question, Joe's brother spotted something.  "Hey!" the dark-blue-haired boy pointed up in the sky.  A large shadow passed over the group and then left.  "Up there!"

"Oh, no!" several of the girls gasped.  "It's one of those monsters!"

"No!" Mr. Ishida stepped forward.  "That's a digimon!"  The man immediately started jumping up and down, waving frantically.  "Hey! he shouted.

Some of the other men did the same thing.  "Down here!"

"Huh?" Izzy raised his eyebrows.  He swore he heard people yelling.

Mimi and Palmon"Look!" Mimi squealed.  She pointed toward the emptied streets below them.  "Aren't those people down there...?"

"...our parents!" Joe finished for her.  He recognized every single one of the persons waving at them from below.

"What are they doing here?" Mimi asked.

"MegaKabuterimon!" Izzy called out.  "Take us down there!"

"Oh, I hope Ken's alright," Ms. Ichijouji prayed over and over.  She walked beside her tall husband as the two of them made their way through the evacuated district of town.  Though no damage could be seen as of yet, the sheer fact that the area had been deserted proved that they were headed in the right direction.

"We'll find him, honey," Mr. Ichijouji assured his loving wife.

"But I don't hear those things fighting anymore," she argued.  "What if Ken and his friend aren't there anymore?  Or worse!" she gasped.  The woman was starting to scare herself.  "What if something has happened to him?"

Ken and DavisThe strong man readjusted his hold on the unconscious girl draped in his arms.  She was one of his son's recently made friends who had come for a visit with the boy named Davis when terrible creatures burst into the Ichijouji residence and attacked.  Then more monsters appeared, but it seemed these other monsters were on the side of the humans, fighting to protect them.  Yolei, however, had been injuredYolei during the scuffle.  A nurse conjectured that a few ribs may have been broken, and the lavender-haired girl was knocked out cold.  No hospital was operating, otherwise Mr. Ichijouji would have left her where she could be cared for.  But that was not the case.  And the best place he thought she could be was with him and his wife.  The girl actually fought and tried to protect them back at their apartment.  Now it was their turn to help her.

"I couldn't bear losing him again," Ms. Ichijouji cried.  "Not when we just got him back after three long years of searching for him!"

Mr. Ichijouji trudged forward with determination.  "We'll find him," he promised his worried wife.  "And we'll do whatever we have to do when we get there."

"But now that the fighting has stopped," Ms. Ichijouji asked.  "How are we going to find Ken?"  They had been using the sounds of the battle to lead them to their son, but now there were none.

"Just keep heading in this direction," her husband answered with an unwavering tone of voice.  "We're not giving up."

Izzy"Oh, Izzy!" a kind woman hugged her adopted son.  "I'm so glad you're alright!"

The red-headed young man blushed in slight embarrassment.  "We're okay, Mom," he assured her.

Izzy's adoptive father stepped up to the enormous insect and laid a grateful hand on one of its six legs.  "Thank you, MegaKabuterimon," he bowed his head.  "For taking care of him."

Now it was Izzy's digimon's turn to blush.

"Joe!" a young man ran up to the blue-haired boy.  It was his older brother.  "What's going on here?!?!"

"Yeah!" several of the others joined in.

"Where did these monsters come from?"

"What do they want?"

"Why have the digimon returned?"Joe and Gomamon

Joe raised his arms and requested everyone to calm down.  "I know you have lots of questions, but I promise," he assured them.  "We'll explain along the way.  Right now, we need to meet the other Digi-Destined!"

His words were met with a tense murmur.

Izzy hopped back onto his Mega-level digital monster.  "I'll lead the way in the sky," he told his friends.  Then, with a loud buzzing noise, MegaKabuterimon took to the air.

"Okay!" Mimi raised an arm.  Joe, Palmon, and Gomamon were by her side.  "Follow us!"

And the family of the Digi-Destined set forth.  The kids they sought were on a mission to save the Real World.  But these men, women, and children were on a mission to save the ones they loved so dearly.
