Present: The Defragmented Mountains
And as the morning sun drenched the valley of the Defragmented Mountains with its warm, nurturing light, the remnants of HeraldAngemon's greatest attack sparkled like glitter, floating gently down to the ground until the tall grass soaked it up. Kari's eyes twinkled while TK held her close. They both looked on at the place OmniNegabyte had once stood. "Beautiful..." the brown-haired girl barely whispered. The valley that had become the scene of a most horrific battle was now at peace once again.
"Yes," the young TK agreed, nodding
his head slightly and smiling. "It is."
But while the two of them embraced one another, enjoying the moment of peace and light, a few voices interrupted their thoughts. "Kari!" one of them called. "TK!"
"Huh?" they turned around.
Still standing on a floating rock fragment, TK and Kari looked down the
mountainside. Just a little ways down and climbing ever closer were two
digimon they loved very much. "Patamon!" they smiled
instantly. "Salamon!"
Having lost quite a bit of energy in their fight against OmniNegabyte, both of their digimon had de-digivolved all the way to Rookie. But what mattered was that they were okay. They had survived the battle. "Kari!" Salamon ran and hopped right into the girl's inviting arms. "We did it!"
"It's over, TK!" Patamon plopped himself right on top of the boy's head, looking down and smiling brightly. Then the orange and white winged creature pointed back down the hillside. "And look who we found!"
All
of a sudden, two pairs of human hands appeared from over the ledge of the
floating rock. Within seconds, two boys and two more digimon pulled
themselves up. "Oh!" Kari took in her breath, excited and
surprised. "Tai!" Immediately, she ran to her older
brother.
"Kari!" the brown-haired boy opened
his arms, letting his sister run into them. He just stood there, hugging
her and Salamon tight while Agumon smiled at the touching scene.
Matt and TK were sharing a similar reunion. "What were you thinking chasing those monsters in here like that?!" the older brother raised his voice, exasperated. He recalled TK and Angemon flying through the gate to the Digital World in an effort to rescue Kari. "Mom is totally freaking out!"
TK just smirked. He could tell his brother was just pretending to be upset. "Thanks for coming after me," the blonde boy winked. Then the two brothers and Patamon and Gabumon laughed together.
Meanwhile, as Kari and TK reunited with their digimon and siblings, others on the floating rock fragment stood apart from the celebration. Both groups were oblivious to one another. "Tsuriai..." the Future Guardian sighed heavily, bringing her arms into herself. "HeraldAngemon..." After the obliteration of OmniNegabyte, there was no sign of either the human or the digimon. This was quite upsetting, not only to the Internet Guardian, but to Mr. Takaishi as well.
"Angemon!" Tsuriai's father commanded. "Ankylomon! We can't find Suri or Veric or Cody. You have to find them!" The Champion-level digimon didn't waste any time. They knew what was on the line.
Suddenly, an uproarious noise resounded through the echoing valley of the Defragmented Mountains.
"Yea!"
"It's over!"
"We're finally free!"
The two Internet Guardians that had accompanied Tai, Matt, and Omnimon to the mountains danced in circles around each other. "The digimon!" they cheered. Just coming through the valley entrance was a sea of a digital monsters and a handful of humans. "And the Digi-Destined! They made it!"
Ken,
Davis, Wormmon and Hawkmon rode atop Raidramon. "YEEHAW!" the
brown-haired boy cheered. He was having the time of his life. And
Ken and Wormmon were laughing as well. It had been a long time since they
felt good about themselves. And now, with the war over and new friends by
their side, they couldn't be happier.
Mimi and Palmon walked amid a group of ecstatic Gekkomon. "Yea!" they hollered. "Princess Mimi saved us again!" The pink-haired girl and her plant digimon just laughed at the playful lizard digimon and their antics.
"Prodigious!" Izzy's dark eyes sparkled while he smiled. He, his roommate and best friend Joe, and Gomamon sat on top of Kabuterimon while the insect buzzed in the sky overhead. They could see the thousands and thousands of digital monsters all pouring into the valley of the Defragmented Mountains.
And beside the flying insect was a red bird. "Look!" Sora pointed straight ahead as she hung onto Birdramon's leg. "There they are!" She indicated a group of humans and digimon on the side of a mountain.
"There's Sora and the others!" Matt's face lit up. He spotted his girlfriend's bird digimon coming in for a landing. In a matter of seconds, digital monsters of all types and levels climbed a little ways, following the Digi-Destined who had come to help them win their world back.
"Incredible!" Kari beamed. "There's so many of them!"
Thousands of digital monsters approached the
floating rock fragments, surrounding the group of humans on the
mountainside. Joe hopped off Kabuterimon as soon as the insect had
landed. "TK!" he waved, shouting and running to his
friends. "Kari!" All the Digi-Destined arrived, huddling
together and hugging one another.
"Thank goodness you're alright!" Sora hugged Kari.
Mimi punched her arm in the air. "We totally kicked those Viral Agents' butts!"
"AAAAWWWW!!!!" Davis wailed, tears forming in his eyes. TK, Kari, Matt, and Tai had been relaying the events that occurred at the mountains. "You mean I missed the big fight?!?!?!" he whined like a little boy. "How did you beat him without me?"
Everyone just roared laughing, watching Davis while he pouted.
But
Izzy looked around. "Hey," he spoke up, trying to get everyone's
attention. He noticed the presence of someone else on that hovering
rock. "Who are they?" The red-headed boy gestured toward an
older man who stood aloof on the edge of the fragment, his back turned to the
Digi-Destined. No one could see his face, but it looked like he and the
young girl with him were preoccupied with something.
"Oh!"
Kari brought her hands up to her face. So overwhelmed with seeing her
friends again, she completely forgot about the TK from the future and the Future
Guardian. Immediately, she spun around. The brown-haired girl
observed how sad and distraught the two of them were. And she knew exactly
why. But before she could say anything, one of her friends jumped in with
another question.
Joe looked around the group. "And where's Cody and Tsuriai?" the blue haired boy asked. Besides Yolei, who stayed behind in the Real World, two of the Digi-Destined were missing.
The young TK was just about to answer, but when he opened his mouth, someone else's voice responded. "Right here."
Everyone looked up, their attention drawn to an angel and a yellow dinosaur digimon making their way through a crowd of digital monsters. Finally, Angemon and Ankylomon arrived, one carrying a mouse-like digimon, and the other carrying a boy and a young girl.
