Present: The Digital World

TsuriaiTwo humans and their digimon friends sped through the woods with an unrelenting drive.  "Please..." Tsuriai prayed out loud.  Her eyes were narrowed with determination, her muscles steeled with courage, her mind on high alert for the unexpected.  "Let them be okay."  In all reality, the girl was scared out of her mind.  She didn't even know what was happening at that moment.  But she could feel it in her gut that, whatever it was, she could lose everything she held dear.  This was a price she was not willing to pay.

Tsuriai glided through the forest with ease, whipping in and out and dodging branches.  Nothing was going to stop her.  Rakunamon was right at her heels.  He shot his nose up in the air, detecting a faint scent.  "Oh, no," the rodent digimon panted as he ran.  "They're back."

Cody turned his head to look at the brown and black Rookie-level digimon.  "You mean...?"

"...Viral Agents," Rakunamon snarled.  Every time they were near, he could smell them.  Just their mere presence put the little creature on edge, his dark eyes narrowing and his fur standing on end.

The blonde girl grit her teeth.  "What do they want with us?!?!" she growled.

"I'm not sure I want to find out!" Armadillomon smirked.

CodyCody huffed and puffed, pumping his legs and arms as hard as he could just to keep up with Tsuriai as she hover-skated through the trees.  "We should digivolve!" he called out.  His brow was knit in concentration.  "Go straight to Mega, Armadillomon."  The dark-haired boy remembered from his last encounter with the Viral Agents that only the Mega-levels of digital monsters were strong enough to defeat the hideous monsters that infested the Digital World.  Ultimate could do some damage, but it would take the massively powerful Mega form to destroy an Agent once and for all.  And Cody wasn't going to waste precious time or energy.  Not when his friends needed his help.

"Let's do it, Veric!" Tsuriai agreed.

Rakunamon and Armadillomon leapt forward, gaining the lead ahead of their human partners.  "You got it!" they said in unison.  Together, the Rookie-level digimon ran ahead, a warm, glowing light enveloping them as they summoned the energy they required.  In order to pass through several digivolutions at once, an abnormal amount of power was needed.  But their human partners were more than up for the challenge.

Rakunamon digivolve to...

Armadillomon digivolve to...

The four of them raced through the trees, never letting up on their speed as the digimon absorbed new data and transformed to more powerful creatures.  One by one, a digivolution passed, first from Rookie to Champion.  Cody and Tsuriai could see the bodies of their digital companions morph from one form to the next as they remained at one level for just a second and then continued onto the next one.  However, only Armadillomon advanced through all his digivolutions.

...Momongamon!

...Vikemon!

All of a sudden, a running goliath rumbled through the forest, knocking trees over with ease and causing the ground to quake with each step.  The white, furry viking digimon reached down with his long, heavy arm and plucked his tiny human partner up from the ground, placing Cody on his helmet.  "Hold on tight," his voice thundered.

Tsuriai hover-skated closer to her flying Champion-level digimon and then jumped onto his back.  "Veric!" She yelled over the rumbling noise caused by Vikemon as the Mega-level digital monster ran.  "What happened?"  She had expected her digimon to go to Mega as well.

"I couldn't do it, Suri," the giant squirrel's low voice boomed.  His eyes were slit in frustration as he flew by the mammoth Viking that used to be the little Armadillomon.  "I tried, but I just didn't have enough power."

"But why...?" Tsuriai started to ask.  Her question, however, was cut short.

Cody"Oh, no!" Cody yelled.  His emerald eyes stared down at the trashed clearing that served as the previous night's campsite.  "They're gone!"

"And look!" Vikemon pointed a finger down at the grass.

Momongamon came to a screeching halt beside his furry comrade, eyeing what the giant creature was trying to show him.  Though all she saw were scraps of metal and wire and glass, Tsuriai recognized the mess right away.  "A digivice!" she gasped.

"No!" Cody's eyes suddenly widened with dread.  He couldn't believe what he was hearing.  "But it's..."

"...destroyed," the blonde girl finished for him.  Her voice was solemn and serious as she jumped off Momongamon and knelt down by the pile of broken parts.  Quickly yet carefully, she gathered them into her hands.

"It's TK's by the looks of it," Vikemon observed.  He saw bits of green plastic mingled with the white and silver metal.

Cody's brow furrowed in deep concentration.  "Then that means Patamon can't digivolve," he realized.  "And TK's defenseless."

"I don't see any trace of Gatomon, either," Vikemon added.  "The Viral Agents must have TK and Kari already."

Suddenly, a low growling noise reverberated throughout the area.  Tsuriai swung around, facing her digimon.  "Veric?" she cocked her head to one side, frightened and nervous.

MomongamonMomongamon's eyes were narrow and fiery as his nose twitched.  "We're not alone," he announced.

And then, as if on cue, a small band of six Viral Agents dropped from the nearby trees into the clearing.  It was an ambush.

In no time, the fight was on.  "RRRRAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!" the giant flying squirrel zoomed straight toward one of the slimy creatures.  His blood boiled with rage.  With all his might, he let loose everything he had, sending one attack after another.Vikemon

Titan's Tail!

Grenade Barrage!

Vikemon locked himself in a stand off against three of the Agents as they all dove for him.  All three of his attackers flitted in the air, moving in and moving out like annoying bugs.  They were after the dark-haired boy that held fast to a horn on the digital monster's helmet.  Vikemon reached back and took hold of his spiked clubs.

Viking Axe!

Two of the Agents took on the giant squirrel, trading blows as all three fighters hovered in the air.  A third Viral Agent dove for a human who had been left on the ground as his companions diverted her protector.  The girl had seen him coming for her and made a valiant attempt to escape, but her hover-skating was no match for the flying speed of a Viral Agent.  "AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!" Tsuriai wailed.  She pounded with her fists and struggled against her captor's hold.  "Let me go!"

Momongamon, Vikemon, and Cody all three swung their heads around to witness an Agent making for the tops of the trees, heading toward the sky.  And in his claws was a struggling young girl.  "Suri!" they all cried at once.  And then, in a flash, the Viral Agent and its bounty disappeared behind the leafy treeline above.

"SURI!!!!!!!!!"
