Present: The Digital World
"SURI!!!!!!" came the cry of three
creatures who cared very much for the girl. Momongamon's stomach started
to churn, Vikemon's temper burned even more, and Cody's heart pound faster in
his chest as Tsuriai disappeared from his view.
The colossal giant of a digital monster called forth one of his attacks while three Viral Agents persisted in their efforts to distract him.
Arctic Blizzard!
A mass of freezing sleet, snow, and ice shot from him, tossing the terrible monsters in the air like leaves in the wind. "SSSSS!!!!!!" they hissed.
"Momongamon!" Cody yelled. He had to scream at the top of his lungs to be heard over the roaring sounds of battle. "You have to digivolve and go after Suri!"
Grenade Barrage!
Exploding acorns rained down upon the two Viral Agents that attacked him. "I can't go any further," Momongamon called back to the human boy. The mammoth squirrel didn't even turn to look at Cody, retaining his concentration on the fight. "I tried," he explained. "I can transform, but Suri and I don't have enough power for me to maintain the Ultimate level!"
Cody thought about that. How can that be? he asked himself as he hugged the horn of Vikemon's helmet for safety. She has her Crest and her digivice! But there was no time to ponder this odd occurrence. "Momongamon!" Cody shouted. "You HAVE to! Suri is counting on you!"
"But I don't...!" the Champion-level digimon started to argue.
Cody, however, wouldn't hear it. "Yes you do!" he yelled. "The power is there, you just have to find it!"
Suddenly, all five of the Viral Agents left at
the campsite to deal with Cody and his digimon companions dove for the giant
flying squirrel. They knew he was weaker than the other digital monster,
and that he was the partner of the human they had just captured. If
Momongamon couldn't be captured as easily as Patamon or Gatomon, then the Agents
were prepared to eliminate the meddlesome digital monster once and for all.
"AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!" the Champion-level digimon wailed. He suddenly found himself being tackled to the ground, smothered as giant, slimy monsters piled themselves on top of him. Some scratched at his furry skin, drawing blood while others beat on him with their clawed hands and feet.
Vikemon watched in horror as the figure of Momongamon vanished beneath a see of blood-thirsty Viral Agents. "Momongamon!" Immediately, the viking digimon charged for them with clubs swinging.
Viking Axe!
"Momongamon!" Cody's heart
beat hard in his chest and his mind raced as the situation quickly got worse and
worse. TK and Kari were gone, and so were Patamon and Gatomon. And
now, Tsuriai had been stolen away by a Viral Agent. The dark-haired boy
knew he and the two digimon with him had to chase after their friends and save
them, but an entire platoon of these immensely powerful Viral Agents were
keeping them from escaping. Vikemon was their only hope of defeating the
Viral Agents because of his Mega-level powers. Cody and his digimon would
have to stay and see to it that their attackers were dealt with, which left only
Tsuriai's digimon to go after their friends. But now, as Viral Agents
pummeled the Champion-level digital monster, things were looking bleak, even
hopeless. "No!" Cody yelled. He just couldn't lose
hope. Energy coursed through his body as Vikemon sent attack after attack
at the Agents who hounded the weaker digital monster. Then, in the heat of
the moment as emotions consumed him, Cody called out a different name.
"Veric!"
Arctic Blizzard!
Momongamon shot his squinted eyes open. Blood seeped from open cuts on his face and his mask tore and ripped apart. But, underneath the hissing and growling animals who mauled him, he faintly heard his name. Not his digimon name, but his REAL name.
"Veric!" Cody cried at the top of his lungs. "Don't give up!"
Viking Axe!
"You promised Suri you'd take her home!" the green-eyed boy yelled. "She needs you!"
Vikemon swung his heavy arms at Viral Agents, pounding on them with a fury fueled by anger. No body was going to harm his friends. He was going to make sure of that. "Believe in yourself!" the goliath viking's low voice boomed. "You can digivolve!"
Cody cupped his hands around his mouth.
"We believe in you, Veric!"
We believe in you, Momongamon repeated his friends' words. That's exactly what they said before when Suri and I stopped fading away. The squirrel's eyes started to glimmer with hope. And they're right. When Suri and I started to believe in ourselves, I felt all my energy return. All of a sudden, a warm sensation came over the beaten Champion-level digital monster. Beneath the dark, evil creatures that attacked him, a bright light shone, piercing through them and extending as far as it could go.
"Oh...!" Cody gasped. Something was happening.
Then a low, bass voice roared through the echoing forest.
Momongamon digivolve to....
Vikemon held a Viral Agent in one of his hands, gripping the vile monster by its throat. He stood there, his eyes wide and his lips curled up in a smirk. "Go, Momongamon!" he cheered his newest friend on. "You can do it!"
Suddenly, the pile of Viral Agents exploded as
a massive blast sent them hurdling through the air. Each one slammed into
a tree. And in the center of the blast stood a creature never seen before.
...Majutsumon!
"Veric..." Cody breathed in with complete awe and amazement. Before him stood a mystical elf-like creature garbed in a hooded cloak and surrounded by a warm, magical light. Veric had gone from resembling a member of the rodent species to looking more human. And he stood tall with a wooden staff in hand, his body slightly larger than a normal human but smaller than his previous form as Momongamon. However, his reduced size disguised the Ultimate-level digimon's significantly increased power. Cody watched breathlessly as the new digital monster called forth one of his attacks.
Majutsumon reached one hand into a sleeve and removed something. Right in front of his face he held a handful of tarot cards with symbols from the written language of the Digital World. But, dead in the center of the special cards was a symbol Cody recognized from his conversations with Tsuriai and Rakunamon just hours ago. It was the same as the symbol found on Majutsumon's robes as well.
It was the Crest of Harmony.
Cards of Destiny!
Instantly, the cards started to glow and, with a flick of his hand, Majutsumon sent them flying through the air like ninja stars.
"AAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!" Several of the Viral Agents winced and cried in pain. The magical cards sliced through their rough, slimy skin, cutting deep as the glowing cards seared the open wounds.
But the Agents weren't the only ones hurting. "Unh..." Majutsumon groaned, falling to his knees. He held onto his magical staff for support.
"Majutsumon!" Vikemon gasped.
Cody was just as astonished at what he was seeing. The figure of the Ultimate-level digimon was fading in and out once again, just as Rakunamon's tail had been doing when Cody and Armadillomon found him and Tsuriai by the lake. Except, this time, Majutsumon's entire body was turning ghostly and weak. "Veric!"
Vikemon stepped forward, taking a protective stance in front of his friend.
Arctic Blizzard!
Cody called down to Tsuriai's digimon. "Veric!"
"Cody..." Majutsumon's voice was strained and weak. "I...can't hold...I...can't..." he tried to talk.
The dark-haired boy shook his head.
"Don't give up!" he yelled down from his perch on Vikemon's horned
helmet. "Suri needs you!"
Vikemon stood in front of the ailing sorcerer, protecting the Ultimate-level digimon from the attacking Viral Agents. "Go get her," he instructed him. "Cody and I'll take care of these pests."
"Suri..." Majutsumon spoke her name under his breath. Weakly, he grabbed hold of his staff, struggling as he used it to pull himself back up.
"Come on, Veric!" Cody coached him. "You can do it!"
The pain Majutsumon felt was intense. His body ached, his muscles burned. But he wasn't going to let any of that stop him from saving his best friend and partner. "Suri..." Slowly, the magical digimon turned his eyes skyward and opened his arms wide. In the next instant, he was floating up to the tree tops. His body and energy still fade in and out, but he didn't care. "I'm coming, Suri!"
