Present:  The Digital World

With Submarimon's speed, it didn't take long to find their fallen comrades.  Two unconscious figures sank in the cold water.  One was Rakunamon, and the other was Tsuriai.   "There they are!" TK pointed in their direction.  "And they're knocked out!"

"We're not alone, guys!" Submarimon's voice was urgently concerned.  He flashed his lights ahead.  "Look!"

"Oh, no!" both the human boys sucked in their breaths.  "It's Devimon!"

In the cold, dark shadows of the digital ocean, Submarimon's forward lights illuminated an area just beside some underwater rock walls.  There floated one of the most evil Virus-type digital monsters the Digital World has ever known...Devimon.  And as the humans and Cody's digimon watched, the sinister digimon pushed himself away from the barnacle-covered rocks and swam toward one of the falling figures.

TKAll of a sudden, TK's hands curled up into tense fists.  "Attack Submarimon!" the blonde boy demanded.  His blood was starting to boil with anger and his eyes narrowed in a hatred neither Cody nor Submarimon had ever witnessed before.  "He's after Tsuriai and Rakunamon!"

Submarimon could feel his heart stop for a moment.  He wasn't sure what to do.  All he knew was that he was no where close to being powerful enough to defeat a digital monster as strong as Devimon.  He would risk danger to Cody and TK if he tried to fight.  But his friends, Tsuriai and Rakunamon, were in danger as well.

TK saw that the submarine-like digimon hesitated to attack.  "Submarimon!" TK raised his voice.  "We have to help them!"

Devimon reached out his lanky arms, his long, bony fingers wrapping gently around a furry creature that sunk through the water.

"Submarimon!" TK yelled.

Oxygen Torp...!

Cody"No!" Cody lurched forward.  He screamed for his digimon to stop his attack.  "Don't shoot!"

"Cody!" TK gasped.  "What are you doing?!  Devimon has Rakunamon!"

The dark-haired boy shot his arm forth with a tense anger equal to that of his blonde friend's.  "Look!" his voice was serious and urgent.  "Behind Devimon!"

Submarimon flashed his lights to the area immediately behind the dark digimon.  "Oh!" TK sucked in his breath.  "MegaSeadramon!"

"And Whamon!" Cody added.

The giant sea-dragon digimon glided through the water with ease and intercepted the unconscious human girl.  Now both he and Devimon headed toward their friend, Whamon, who waited for them with an open mouth.

"They're going inside!" Submarimon realized.

Then, out of nowhere, a school of Dolphmon appeared, their shiny bodies glimmering in Submarimon's light.  "Follow us," one of them instructed the submarine digimon and the passengers he carried.  "Quickly!  Your friends don't have much time!"

TK and Cody looked to each other with the same expression of confusion and trepidation, and then back toward the Dolphmon and the large whale digital monster ahead of them.  Whamon had allowed Devimon and MegaSeadramon to enter his mouth with Rakunamon and Tsuriai, and now the mammoth-sized whale was swimming away.  The school of Dolphmon followed close behind.

"Cody?" Submarimon asked.

The green-eyed boy furrowed his brow.  "Follow them."

Submarimon and the digimon he followed cut through the water with little resistance, swimming through it with the greatest of ease.  But, even while only seconds passed, the time underwater seemed to pass like minutes.  The water got darker and darker, and the two boys and Cody's digimon were both scared and wary of where they were going and who they were trusting.  Devimon was an evil digimon, and MegaSeadramon was known for his violent streak.  But Whamon was one of the most gentle digital monsters around, and the Dolphmon were as friendly as they come.  And now this motley crew of digital monsters had a Digi-Destined and her digimon in their possession.  Who knew what they had in mind for Tsuriai and Rakunamon?  Who knew where they were leading Cody and TK and their digimon?

"Cody, look!" Submarimon spoke up after several seconds of intense silence.

TK peered outside the submarine digimon's glass port.  "They're going into that enormous cave!" the blonde boy realized.

The dark-haired boy looked on with curiosity.  "Where are they taking us?"

SubmarimonSubmarimon continued to follow the playful Dolphmon into the gargantuan opening in the side of an underwater mountain.  The water was pitch black now except for the small lights he left on.  But, within another second, a small bit of light could be seen up ahead.  The water was changing colors from black to deep violet to navy blue to blue-green.  Everyone could tell that they were getting closer and closer to a source of light.

"Quickly, now!" the Dolphmon encouraged the Digi-Destined that followed them.  All of them sped up, as if to motivate Submarimon to go faster.

Cody's digimon did just that, and, in the next instant, he found himself surfacing the cold waters.  "Whoa!" he grunted.  Coming up from the water, he splashed all around until he found his buoyancy.  That's when he finally took in where he was.  "Check it out!" he awed.

"A cave with an underwater entrance!" Cody looked around in astonishment.  He looked up at the ceiling and the walls where hundreds of other cave openings existed.  And from them peeped several creatures big and small.

"Digimon!" TK took in his breath.  "Man!"  He couldn't believe all the digital monsters he was seeing.  "There has to be thousands of them here!"

Suddenly, several voices broke through the boys' amazement.  "Make room!"

"Let them out!"

"Bring the Messiah here!"

"Help her digimon!"

DevimonDevimon stepped out of the beached Whamon's mouth with a sopping wet ball of fur curled in his bony arms.  Weak and exhausted, Veric had de-digivolved all the way back to his Baby level: Nezumimon.  MegaSeadramon slithered beside him, Tsuriai draped across his bottom jaw.  Her body hung limply and her long blonde hair curled and dripped with ocean water.  As soon as the two digimon reached the rock floor, they laid Tsuriai and her digimon down.  "They're not breathing!" Devimon announced.

"Suri!" Cody gasped.  Submarimon immediately opened his glass canopy and allowed his two human passengers to exit.

"Oh, no!" TK sucked in his breath.  "Tsuriai!"  Immediately, both Cody's and TK's instinct set in.  They ran straight for the blonde girl who lay lifeless on the ground and proceeded to administer CPR.

Submarimon de-digivolved to his Rookie form.  "Veric!" Armadillomon shouted.  He didn't know what else to call his digimon friend.  He'd never seen this form before.  "I'm comin' buddy!"

TK"One...two...three...four...!" TK counted out loud, huffing while he repeatedly pressed the palms of his hands on Tsuriai's chest.

"Come on, Suri," Cody prayed.  The girl just lay there, her eyes closed and her skin pale.

"Now, Cody!" TK told him.

The dark-haired boy went straight to work.  With his fingers he pinched the girl's nose shut and, with the other hand, he tilted her head back and then lowered her jaw.  Quickly, Cody took a deep breath and then pressed his lips against Tsuriai's cold ones.  He spent the next few seconds breathing air into her lungs.  Then he turned his head to place his ear near the girl's open mouth.  "Nothing!" Cody announced when he decided he couldn't hear her breathing or see her chest rising and falling.

TK started all over again.  "One...two...three...four...!"

"Veric!" Armadillomon cried.  The little yellow digimon was right by his mouse-like friend.  "What do I do?"

Suddenly, the Rookie-level digimon felt a few hands rest on his shell.  "Step back," a Gazimon told him.

A Tuskmon stood beside the rabbit-like digimon that approached Armadillomon.  "Let MarineAngemon help him," the giant dinosaur digimon explained.MarineAngemon

And then, as if on cue, a tiny winged creature floated by.  He was so small, but his size was deceiving.  This little digimon was really a Mega-level!  MarineAngemon settled in a spot just above the motionless Nezumimon.  "Poo!"  A heart-shaped bubble left his mouth and kissed the sleeping mouse digimon on his furry lips.  "Poo!"

*cough, cough, cough*

"Tsuriai!" TK cheered.

*cough, cough*

"Suri!" Cody called her name.  The blonde girl turned her head to the side, coughing out water and gasping for air.  "Steady," the green-eyed boy encouraged her.  "You're alright."

Finally, after what seemed like ages, Tsuriai could breathe again.  She could feel a tight pain in her chest.  Her lungs and heart were readjusting.  And so was her sight.  Slowly, the blonde girl turned her head up again, blinking her eyes over and over to get them to refocus while she still lay on the ground.  She didn't know where she was or how she'd gotten there, but she swore she heard familiar voices, especially one in particular.  "Daddy?" her weak voice cracked.

Cody watched as TK leaned over so that he could be in Tsuriai's line of vision, his brow furrowed.  "Poor thing," the blonde boy whispered.  "She must think she's with her parents."

TK didn't know how right he was.  She must have heard TK's voice and thought her father from the future was here, Cody deduced.  The dark-haired boy reached his arm out and touched his older friend on the shoulder.  "TK," he started to say.  "There's something you need to know..."

Suddenly, an uproar echoed through the cavern.  "Hooray!"

"Yea!"

"He's alright!"

"And the Messiah is alive!"

Cody's words were cut off and both he and TK diverted their attention to the cheering digimon throughout the enormous cave.

"Veric!" Armadillomon cheered.  He couldn't remember feeling more relieved in his life.  "You're okay!"

"Huh?" the little mouse digimon blinked his beady eyes open.  "Wha...where...?"

"Uuuhhhnnn...." Tsuriai moaned.  She shut her eyes and turned her head.

Cody"Suri!" Cody leaned over.

The blonde girl moved slightly.  "Cody?"

The dark-haired boy smiled down at her while he removed a tendril of hair from her face.  "How do you feel?"

"Tired..."

"The Messiah should rest," came a foreign voice out of nowhere.  Both TK and Cody turned around to find themselves face to face with two glittering spheres of light.  "Come," one of them spoke.  "Bring her."  Then the two strange objects floated slowly through the air toward one of the many caves.

TK knelt down, sliding his arms below Tsuriai's body and lifting her up.  Then he fell into stride with Cody, following the mystical balls of light.  "Armadillomon!" Cody called.

"Comin!" the little yellow digimon answered.  The Gazimon that was standing beside him picked Nezumimon up and laid the Baby-level digimon on Armadillomon's shell.  "Right behind ya!"
